Plano AsiaFest and the Celebrating Asian American Heritage Foundation are heartbroken to learn that former CAAHF board member Sally Magnuson passed away August 21, 2026.
Sally represented Place 4 in the Plano City Council for three terms. She was the City Council's liaison to the Cultural Affairs Commission, which was responsible for CAAHF's City of Plano grant funding at the time.
Following her retirement from the Plano City Council in 2009, Sally was invited to serve as a Board Member of CAAHF, a position she served in until this year. She supported Plano AsiaFest for many years and remained a member of CAAHF until her passing. In particular, Sally's good relationship with Plano Fire-Rescue enabled the Fire Department's participation and display of firetrucks at several AsiaFests. She also provided invaluable advice to the Board over the intervening years.
Sally was a fervent ally of the Asian American community in Plano and the DFW area. Her support was critical in establishing and growing Plano AsiaFest from its earliest years. Those who knew her remember her for her enthusiasm and kindness. She will be dearly missed.
